The NCAA on Monday selected Phoenix to host the 2024 Men's Final Four

PHOENIX - The NCAA on Monday selected Phoenix to host the 2024 Men's Final Four. The national semifinals are set for Saturday, April 6, 2024 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, with the national championship game tipping off on Monday, April 8. Phoenix won the right to host in a competitive bid process that included six other finalists to host the 2023-2026 Men's Final Fours. The Valley hosted its first Final Four in 2017. "I could not be prouder that the NCAA has selected Phoenix to host another iconic Final Four," Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said. "The Final Four is more than just great games, it's a spectacular opportunity for our statewide tourism industry and a platform to showcase Arizona to an international audience. We look forward to welcoming the teams and their fans to our state, which is quickly becoming the nation's

No. 1 destination for major sporting events.

The Valley's Final Four bid was a collaborative effort, with the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority, local municipalities, tourism bureaus and the Arizona Cardinals teaming up with the Phoenix Local Organizing Committee (PLOC). Arizona State University will serve as the host institution.

"This is a fantastic day for Arizona. We are thrilled to be selected to host another Final Four," PLOC co-chair Debbie Johnson said. "Once again, this has been a true community effort. I am grateful to everyone across the state who supported our successful bid."

The PLOC leadership is co-chair Johnson, director of the Arizona Office of Tourism; co-chair Dan Lewis, President and CEO of Native Insight; Ray Anderson, ASU Vice President for University Athletics; Steve Moore, President and CEO of Visit Phoenix; and Tom Sadler, President and CEO of the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority, which owns University of Phoenix Stadium.

The 2017 Final Four generated an estimated $324.5 million in economic impact, according to a study by Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business. The event also provided vast media exposure for the state, with a Final Four-record 2,201 credentialed media and an average of nearly 23 million television viewers for the North Carolina-Gonzaga championship game.

"We thank the NCAA for selecting Arizona to host this highly coveted event with its massive economic and community impact," Sadler said. "Major events create a strong sense of pride for all Arizonans. We look forward to hosting another Final Four and thank the voters of Maricopa County for making this possible when they approved Prop. 302."

What they're saying about the 2024 Final Four:
Ray Anderson, ASU Vice President for University Athletics

"This is a landmark day for ASU to host the iconic event for the second time. We learned many useful lessons in 2017 and will apply our trademark innovation to provide an unforgettable experience for the NCAA, student-athletes, alumni and fans. We promise another amazing effort from the Sun Devil community and will shine again in 2024."

Steve Moore, Visit Phoenix President and CEO

"We are honored that the NCAA has selected Phoenix to host another Final Four. The Valley's hospitality industry understands and appreciates the tremendous value of this event. Hotels, resorts and CVBs across the Valley came together to ensure that we put forth the strongest possible bid - and now they look forward to welcoming the NCAA's teams, staff, fans and alumni. Hosting mega events is in our DNA."

Thelda Williams, Phoenix Mayor

"We are thrilled for the opportunity to host another successful Final Four. In 2017, City of Phoenix staff, public safety officials, and community leaders came together to produce an exceptional-and safe-experience for college basketball fans. We are grateful to the NCAA for again selecting Phoenix to host an event that brought an economic and tourism boost to our region."

Jerry P. Weiers, Glendale Mayor

"Hosting another Final Four is a slam dunk for Arizona. In addition to the tremendous economic impact of the Final Four, the lasting impact for Arizona comes from the legacy community projects that are completed in partnership with the NCAA. Programs such as "Read to the Final Four" and "Final Four Dribble," along with the projects to build and restore community sports facilities, leave a positive impact on Arizona long after a 2024 champion is crowned. I am excited to welcome back the NCAA 2024 Final Four to Glendale."

Kevin Phelps, Glendale City Manager

"Today's announcement is the culmination of the hard work and cooperation between Governor Ducey, ASU, the business community and civic leaders. The coordinated efforts of these different stakeholders is unique to Arizona and provides us with a competitive advantage in our efforts to attract major events to the Valley. Our team is committed to working with our partners in successfully hosting yet another large-scale sporting event here in Glendale. With today's exciting announcement we will now focus our recognized signature level of service in preparing for Final Four 2024."

Scarlett Spring, Board Chair, Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority

"AZSTA is grateful to all of the community partners who came together to support Phoenix's bid and demonstrate once again that Phoenix is the national leader in hosting major sporting events. We thank the NCAA for selecting University of Phoenix Stadium to host its second Final Four. This spectacular event will greatly enhance our community's economy and quality of life, delivering on the promise made to Maricopa County voters who approved Prop. 302."
